Privacy policy

The one-paragraph version

We collect your email address (and optionally a first name) solely to send you notifications about lifestyle events in Ireland, only after you explicitly consent and confirm by double opt-in. Because subscribing signals an interest in the adult lifestyle, we treat your email address as special category data under Article 9 GDPR and protect it accordingly. We never sell, share or disclose your details to anyone — including event organisers. You can unsubscribe in one click or have everything erased on request.

What we collect, and the legal basis

• Email address (required) and first name (optional) — processed on the basis of your explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a) and Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR), given via the consent checkbox and confirmed by double opt-in email.
• Basic website analytics via Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation enabled — processed on the basis of legitimate interest in understanding aggregate site usage. No advertising or remarketing pixels are used.
• An age-confirmation cookie recording only that you confirmed you are 18+.

Why this is special category data

Membership of this mailing list can reveal information concerning your sex life, which Article 9 GDPR classifies as special category data requiring explicit consent and heightened protection. In practice that means: we require an affirmative consent checkbox and a double opt-in confirmation; we collect the minimum possible (no surnames, no addresses, no phone numbers); we never share the list with any third party for any purpose; and we honour erasure requests completely and promptly.

Where your data lives

The list is held in MailerLite, our email service provider, which acts as our processor under its data processing agreement. Website analytics are processed by Google Analytics with IP anonymisation. We hold no database of subscribers ourselves beyond what MailerLite stores.

Retention

We keep your details while you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, your address is suppressed from mailing immediately. If you request erasure, your details are deleted from MailerLite entirely. Addresses that never complete double opt-in are deleted automatically.

Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and object to processing of your data, and to withdraw consent at any time — withdrawal is as easy as the unsubscribe link in any email. To exercise any right, email privacy@swingersclub.ie from the relevant address. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).

Controller

The data controller is the operator of swingersclub.ie, contactable at privacy@swingersclub.ie. This policy was last updated in July 2026 and any material changes will be notified to the list before they take effect.
